Build Your Business Foundation with MLE

MLE would like to thank Equestrian Professional’s Elizabeth McMillan for mentioning our own Margaret Rizzo McKelvy in her recent article about trusting your business program. She discussed an important point that we should all remember: we lose sight of our goals and motivation when we stop trusting ourselves. You can find the full article here: MLE can help you learn to trust your program by developing a viable business plan to cover all aspects of your business. A business plan is the foundation for your entire operation; without it, your business will have nothing to stand on. You wouldn’t want to have a cracked or crumbling foundation on your house, just like you don’t want to base your company on a weak business plan. Check Out the Nicholson Family in Chronicle of the Horse!

MLE client, Rolling Acres Show Stables, has been recently featured in the Chronicle of the Horse article “Laughing, Living and Working Together at Rolling Acres”. It is a beautiful piece detailing the three generations of horsemen and women in the Nicholson family. The family is so close that they all live on the same farm property in Brookeville, Maryland. They are such a tight-knit family that they were able to pull through the low points in their lives including when Pam, the eldest Nicholson daughter, spent a month in intensive care after almost dying from necrotizing fasciitis. The article goes on to describe the turning point in the Nicholson family business from cattle and automobile dealership to horse business. This change would forever alter the lives of the sisters Patty and Mary Lisa, allowing them to prosper in their professional riding careers. It is a truly inspirational story of an amazing family that can face any hardship and come out stronger in the end.  If you want to learn more about this inspiring family, check out the full story at

Voltaire's Smart Saddle

Lately everything and everyone is adopting “smart” technology. This technology has taken over everything from televisions to phones to accessories, but have you ever heard of a smart saddle? MLE client, Voltaire Design has taken the initiative to bring smart technology to the equestrian world by designing the Blue Wing Smart Saddle. This saddletree’s innovative design uses Smart RideTM technology to track aspects of your horse’s movement including rhythm, timing, and symmetry. It can also record the intensity and duration of a workout, jump courses and so much more. It then takes this data and sends it straight to your phone so you can have all of this information at your fingertips.

Along with all the fancy new technology, this saddle also provides neurological benefits by using a carbon fiber tree with flexible points, a design that makes it lightweight as well as able to move with the horse and provide shock absorption. If you find it difficult to fit saddles to your horse, this flexible tree may be the answer. And if you want your saddle to match your alligator leather helmet, you can do that too! This saddle is entirely customizable with multiple options to fit your personal style.
This smart saddle will allow riders to connect with their horses like never before. What do you think – could this be your new dream saddle or just wishful thinking?
